In his speech at the UN General Assembly on September 24, 2026, Netanyahu made religious references by quoting the The Holy Bible, Torah, 1 Samuel 15:29. He said:

“We speak the same language today that we spoke then. (…) As the Bible says, netsakh Yisrael lo yeshaker — the eternity of Israel will not falter.”

Well, first of all, Netanyahu’s claim that they speak “the same language”, id est, the language spoken in the time of Moses— is a sheer display of ignorance. It is clear that Netanyahu is unfamiliar with disciplines such as diachronic linguistics, etymology, phonetics, phonology, semantics, philology and morphology.

Diachronic linguistics is a scientific discipline that examines how a language transforms over centuries in terms of sound, vocabulary, grammar and meaning, what stages it passes through and how it diverges from or becomes related to other languages along a historical time axis.

In this context, the phonetic and literary structure of Hebrew has changed so drastically over time that even if an Israeli were to travel back to the past in a time machine like in the movie Back to the Future, it would be impossible for him to speak and communicate in the same language as Moses.
Also, understanding ancient Hebrew Torah scriptures is exceedingly difficult. This is because Hebrew’s grammar, orthography, vocabulary and clausal structures have undergone such profound changes that deciphering those ancient writings is not possible for ordinary people.

This phenomenon applies to every language. Because language is a living, dynamic structure that continuously changes, renews, undergoes metamorphosis alongside social, political, economic and technological developments. Only linguistics experts can decipher, understand and translate ancient languages into contemporary ones.

What message is Netanyahu actually sending with this verse ?
In fact, there is no such expression in the verse that he quoted as “the eternity of Israel will not be falter.” The verse emphasizes not “the eternity of Israel,” but the “divine eternity”:

“Moreover, the Eternal One of Israel [God] will not lie nor repent; for He is not a man, that He should repent.” (1 Samuel 15:29).

The problem is that Netanyahu here distorts the meaning of the verse to support his own political views and attempts to mislead public opinion by implying that Israel will last forever.
According to biblical context this verse warns the king Saul of Israel—who had violated a divine command— that his kingship would be taken away, given to another and that God would not turn back from this decision. However, what was this divine command and the guilt or sin of Saul ? Why the king Saul did not obey to the divine command? What did say exactly the command delivered to Saul ? It said exactly this:

“Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” (1 Samuel 15:3)

The great sin of Saul is as although he killed everyone of the Amalekite people, enemy of Israel, he spared the Amalekite King and the choice cattle, sheep, and lambs. So, Saul was found guilty for not fully complying with the total massacre order. When he repented and asked for forgiveness, he found guilty by the “Eternal One of Israel”. Because, according to the Moses Law, even if a divine command constituted a massacre or genocide of the enemies, all Israelites, notably King Saul, were obligated to obey it.

Now, I would like to draw your attention to the word “suckling” which means “a human infant that is still unweaned and drinks milk from its mother”. Therefore, think about this. Imagine ! Just think about how barbaric and evil this “Eternal One of Israel” and his divine (!) command was ! Do we not witness such acts of barbarism today committed by Israel army in Gaza and West Bank ? By taking this verse as a reference, Netanyahu is sending a clear and bold message to the the entire world and Israelis :

No matter what humanity says or what decisions the International Criminal Court makes, Netanyahu is implying that Israel’s divine existence and victory are a historical necessity, and that their Divine Will shall never take a step back or change its mind; defying universal law, ethics and political criticism by using the Torah as a shield and refuge, he binds Israel’s genocides to religious norms. With this search for moral exemption he is trying to clear himself and Israel in the eyes of world public opinion; he wants the massacres and genocides that Israel continues to carry out against its enemies today, just as in the past, supposedly in obedience to the divine will, to be condoned; he is giving the message that we shall continue the massacre, ethnic cleansing and genocide without distinguishing between women, men, children or infants in the cradle.

Thus, Netanyahu is marketing himself as a leader fulfilling religious prophecies and refusing to bow to goyim (gentile) pressures, delivering a powerful message to his far-right and fundamentalist religious voter base ahead of the elections scheduled for October 27, 2026. Unfortunately, just as Germans followed the Nazis, Italians followed the fascists, and just as fascist and far-right leaders are rising in France and Germany, it appears as a very high probability that the majority of Israelis—consumed by the messianic, racist, supremacist teachings, religious prophecies, and delusions of building the third temple—will vote for this new Judeo-Nazi Adolf. I hope I am the one who is proven wrong.

ANNEX

  1. Hebrew remained a “dead language” for approximately 2.000 years, used solely in synagogues. Ancient Hebrew did not possess clear “past, present, future” tense markers like today. At the end of the 19th century, the linguist Eliezer Ben Yehuda revived Hebrew into a modern spoken language.
  2. Additionally, an interesting and overlooked detail is that the initial letters of this verse in Hebrew (Netzach Yisrael Lo Yešaker) form the acronym NILI which was the name of the Jewish secret organization that provided intelligence to the British against the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Thanks to his identity as a botanist, the leader of the organization, Aron Aronsohn, was able to enter and exit Ottoman territories and front lines freely —specifically under the pretext of combating locust invasions— The intelligence provided by NILI played an effective role in the British breaking through the Ottoman defense in Palestine and capturing Jerusalem.
  3. Nowadays, distorting the meaning of verses written hundreds of years ago to match universal ethics, contemporary science, and political rhetoric has become almost like an epidemic. This epidemic is seen across every religion, sect, religious order, and faith group—from Mormons, Jews and Protestants to Islamists. So much so that some sects, denominations, and religious groups produce new Tanakh, Bible and Quran translations that support their own worldviews. And the English of these new translations is one thing, the French another, and the Turkish yet another. When adapting holy texts to the modern world, these groups generally follow a two-stage method: 1. Decontextualization, to whom, on what historical event, and for what purpose the verse was spoken is completely ignored. The text is turned into a timeless and placeless slogan; and Mirroring, the “evildoers” of the past are equated with current political enemies, while the “righteous” of the past are directly matched with the speaker’s own group.
